Anyone have any comparo info on these two dualies? I have a Jones for a
Caponord, but wonder how it compares to the Multi, which I've ridden
and like well enough.

The Multistrada is not a true dual-purpose bike. I had one, and
did indeed ride it on forest service trails (laden with luggage
and camp gear), but it really is at home on the street.
My complaints with it were more about the lack of wind protection
at highway speeds. I got it for two-up riding and for trips --
the 749 has a range of 120mi and a posture that chiropractors love.
I think my next second bike will be a sport tourer of some sort...

I got one of each, riding them about 5000 km a year, so i guess i'm
entitled to answer your question:
The caponord has more comfort, better weather protection (some
turbulence do occur around the helmet) and more room to move around in
the saddle, better passenger capability as well. It's a bit high and
heavy compared to the multi, and not as agile when it comes to
cornering. Compared to the multi its like wrestling a hippo. The capo
feels larger (it also is) especially in slow speed and in cities, but
you can get the footpegs in the ground if you work a little. It's far
better that the multi on bad roads and on gravel, but it's too heavy to
take for a real field excursion (theres where i use my Cagiva Elefant).
It feels about as powerful (or more) than the multi. A perfect allround
adventurer - in fact i'm going t takte it to Nordkapp this summer... a
trip of 1800 km one way.
I love my multi at the small twisty roads and in town - it's the most
entertaining bike i've had. More sporty feeling than the capo.
if i had to make a choice - i dont know... I would like to have the
multi engine in my elefant... that wolud be the best of two worlds!
cheers
