As far as motorcycles are concerned I'm a traditionalist and so
each time I see some bizarre new concept bike I think, things couldn't
possibly get any worse... and then of course they do.

OTOH I'm not a cultural anthropologist, but here's the opinion of
some experts who are:

Nadir Of Western Civilization To Be Reached This Friday At 3:32 P.M.

WASHINGTON — An international panel of leading anthropologists, cultural
critics, biologists, and social theorists announced this week that
Western civilization will reach its lowest conceivable point at
3:32 p.m. Friday.

"From the prehistoric Lascaux cave paintings to the stirring symphonies
of Mozart to today's hot-dog eating competitions and action films with
comical gerbils, culture has descended into a festering pool of mass
ignorance," said Yale sociologist Paul Riordan, who has spent his career
analyzing western civilization's fall into the depths of depravity.
"If our calculations are correct, this complete erosion of all that is
enlightened and unique will reach absolute rock bottom on the afternoon
of Sept. 25, 2009."

Added Riordan, "It is scientifically impossible for civilization to sink
any lower than it will this Friday."

Typical, typical... The Onion get's it decades late on a story yet
again. Those of us with actual brains and not just the ability to use
them but the willingness to do so recklessly. Have pondered this for
decades.

We've come to the conclusion that the actual nadair was really
signaled by the public accepting and wearing polyester clothing in the
late 60's and through the mid/late 70's.

Well, enjoy the collapse of civilization as you know it. Tesla knows
I'm LOVING it!

The precursor was when I was in Allen Park, Michigan this weekend and I saw
two middle-aged men on scooters of some sort.  I think they were probably
around 500cc.

And the reason a manual transmission is so hard is ... ???

For me the attraction is the step-through convenience. The reason
I haven't bought one is precisely the automatic transmission which
I don't like but which they all seem to have for some reason.

SQ - And if I did have one I'd trailer it to Sturgis!
