Looking for bikes to compare against the Honda entry level cruiser.
Yama, Suzuki, Kawasaki bike names would be most helpful.
Thx - Craig

The more I read about the Hyosung GV250, the better it sounds.

I'm not the brightest glow-worm in the cave here, but I seem
to be the 1st responder so I'll tellya what I know. Here are
the main competitors to the Honda Rebel (250cc):
Yamaha - Virago 250 aka Star 250
Suzuki - Marauder 250
Kawasaki - I dunno
Hyosung makes what looks like a Virago 250 lookalike
My first choice for a 250 would be the Virago, a real jewel
of a (small) bike. I bought one a few years ago and while
I really liked it, after a while I found it too lightweight
for anything but city riding. So then I got a Suzuki 650
single (Boulevard S40 aka LS650 Savage).
Happy riding

Kawasaki EX250- by far, without question, the most competent of all
the 250s on the US market at this time (assuming the OP is a murrican).
It's light in weight but not in power or capability. My missus rides
hers on multi-state trips and it easily holds its own in fast freeway
traffic, which really can't be said about any of the other 250s, which
give away at least 10hp to the Kwak.
It has a low seat height and a totally standard seating position, despite
its racy looks, and is very mild on the bottom end, so it's perfect for
a learner yet still rideable on all roads once you've gotten a little
experience under your belt. They've been made for about 25 years
with little change, the biggest revision came with the 2008 models which
have slightly less top end hp but more midrange, and 17" wheels instead
of the 16" of the previous years. The price also jumped with the new
models but there are many clean low mileage EX250s out there if you look,
for $2k or so.
The Hyosung looks like a decent bike but I'm still leery of buying
Korean, especially when used Kawasakis are as reliable as a stone,
cheap, and plentiful.

However the EX250 aka Ninja 250 is a sportbike/standard and the OP
asked about cruisers.
ps. FWIW the guy I bought Dnepr#2 from rides a Hyosung 250 sportbike
and he really likes it because it's light, manageable and fast.
BTW this guy is 80 years old and still riding. Besides the Dnepr
he had 5 other bikes in his garage plus a Triumph TR6 and a Miata
and a few sedans and a mini-van and a Fireball sailboat and probably
some other toys he never got around to showing me. One of the bikes
(a Magna 750) has a sidecar.
