Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Two dirt bikers encountered
a mountain lion in a wilderness area on northern Vancouver Island,
BC Canada and here's what happened:

I've had similar encouters with wild boar while dirt-biking at
Hollister. One we encountered was very brave when it was just her and
my younger son (he was VERY scared). She got a little less brave when
my older son stopped behind him. She then trotted away when I pulled
up to join them. She clearly didn't want to deal with all three of
us...

I stopped to watch some great horned owlets in a nest in a sycamore
tree as I followed my raptor spotting route through the Sierra Nevada
foothills.
A lady jogger told me that she'd seen a mountain lion in a nearby
creek bed. I've never seen a mountain lion in the wild yet, but I keep
my eyes open for large carnivores.
Now that hunters aren't shooting everything in sight, I've been seeing
a lot of bobcats along country roads. One huge bobcat was laying in
the sun in the middle of a pasture, watching me watch him.
Last time I visited Sequoia NP, I saw a juvenile bobcat stroll across
the road unconcernedly and disappear into the bushes.
Evidently he hadn't learned about the dangers of motor vehicles...

Shit that same thing happened to me yesterday. Or close. There I was
riding my Ultra on a mountain bike trail here in the flat lands and a
cougar attacked only it was really the lizardman visiting from
Bishopville.
Got to be careful out there.

If people persist in trespassing upon the grizzlies' territory, we must
accept the fact that the grizzlies, from time to time, will harvest a few
trespassers.
