Yes, the 1-step-forward-2-steps-backward effect of the .45 is well
documented. On a person.
I'm more curious about bears. Even if you mortally wound the thing, it may
be by that point it is so enraged that it would kill the shooter and then
die 5 minutes later.
The OP seemed to be looking for a general purpose solution that would deal
with both criminally intent people and nasty animals.
The .45 definitely will definitely take care of people. I'm just curious
about the nasty animals.

That's the chance hunters take when they tangle with any 500 animal
that's charging them.

When Thumper posts any question, he's just looking for attention.

That was a serious question.
I got the Mosquito yesterday. It's quite an elaborate weapon, for such a
small calliber.

If I bought one, I would use it for "wet work" or target practice. My
utterly reliable (and very noisy) personal defense handguns are large
bore revolvers.
The one time I ever had to use a semi-automatic to defend myself, it
jammed on me.
I don't *care* if a bullet breaks the sound barrier, or goes through
the engine block of my neighbor's car, if at least ONE of the six
rounds knocks my attacker down.

There probably isn't a handgun on the planet that will reliably drop a 1,000
lb. + grizzly bear with one shot unless you're cool -and close, and lucky-
enough to make a successful brain or spine shot on the first try...
I did once see film of a charging Griz being knocked right over backwards by
the slug from a Sharps .50 caliber black powder buffalo gun, but that's not
really what you'd call a handgun, and in addition it has the serious flaw of
only giving you one (*1*) shot per bear charge.
