A few observations....

BMW, Aprilia, Moto-Guzzi, Benelli, Royal Enfield, Ural, Husaberg, MV
Agusta, Can-Am, MZ, Bimota, Piaggio, Hyosung, and Confederate
motorcycles were not represented.

The Honda DN-01 looks smaller in person than it did in photos.  It is
also relatively light and carries its weight relatively low.  It feels
weird that there is no clutch lever.

The Honda ST1300 has a much more upright riding position than my
ST1100 did, a bit more so than the Kawasaki Concours 14; but the Honda
feels SIGNIFICANTLY heavier pulling it off the sidestand and leaning
it back and forth than the Kawasaki.

The Honda CBR1000RR feels like it weighs 30-35 pounds more than the
CR600RR.  To me.  To my buddy Tom, the difference feels like 20-25
pounds.

The Ducati Streetfighter, I am relieved to report, is significantly
less hideous looking in real life than it is in every photo I've seen
of it.   I think with a normal headlight, a nicer looking exhaust, and
dumping the oil cooler enveloping "belly pan" it could *almost* be
handsome.  I'll be interested to see what people who have been
customizing Monsters do to the Streetfighter.

The  M1100S that DucPond MotoSports customized for Ducati's national
dealership competition is MUCH nicer than the ones done by other
dealers, in my opinion.  Very clean and smooth and understated:

Interesting.  Most of them were at Long Beach, showing their full
lineup. Plus the BMW Lo-Rider, Guzzi Stelvio, etc.

Dunno 'bout DC, but everybody I saw around it thought it was too
weird. Looks like an Edsel to me.

Did they have the Desmo and the 1198S there? Or the Duc truck? FWIW,
the Feb issue of Motorcyclist reviews all of them, and a few others
that were at LB.

No Duc truck, but they had the Desmosedici, the 1198R, and the 1198S.
And a pearl white Multi-Strada with GIGANTO aftermarket saddlebags and
tour trunk, painted to match.  It looked like a whale.

I first saw the DN at the Tokyo show; my first thought was that Honda
had picked up some stylists who'd been kicked off the Victory Vision
team for being too weird...

I agree it's wierd, but I don't think it comes close to the level of
wierdness achieved by the Victory Vision.
