Anybody here have writs numbness problems when riding? What did you do
about it? Hrers' my story... still not a closed book...

Seems to afflict more people that I thought. I've chalked up mine to
being in the computer field for 25 years, getting older, playing
gutiar, and weight lifting - in that order.

Had a guy call me today; got my name off a VTX-related site. He's got
the same make/model/year as my VTX, is essentially my size, and has
the same problem - throttle side wrist numbness when riding.

My '02 VTX1800C has low bars that force us shorter folks to stretch
our arms straight out when riding. With everything stock, I couldn't
use throttle rockers. Too uncomfortable.

Added Kury Iso grips; helped a tiny bit.

Added a Kury throttle boss; helped some and should have done the trick
completely, but due to my arms being stretched out almost straight, I
still had problems.

Installed 6" Aeromach risers. Bars moved up considerably; no longer
had to stretch my arms out straight. coudl sit back in the pocket of
the Mustang seat and stillbend my elbows. Was able to put the
thorottle rockers back on adn they did what they are supposed to...
mostly. Still have intemittent problems, but less severe and less
often.

one fix - and one I am unwilling to do is new bars. The bars are cheap
enough but a set of  replacement/extender lines runs over $600
uninstalled. Thew whoel dela woudl probably cost near $1000 installed.
No thanx; my wirst isn't thta bad.

A cruise control - even the spring loaded one might do the trick for
way less. At least, it'd allow me to shake out my wrist on flat roads
without losing speed.

Next longer ride, I'm wearing my wrist brace that I used when I had
trigger finger to see if what that does.

I'm in the same boat as you (computer work for many years).  I've noticed on
the throttle hand that it comes and goes.

Several colleagues I've known over the years have had surgery for carpal
tunnel syndrome.

I'd suggest you consult a doctor, as you may have more treatment options the
earlier you seek treatment.  You may be able to avoid or postpone surgery.

I suspect there are doctors who specialize in this nowadays.

Are you coming up with questions just to post things, Greg?  You don't
even ride enough to get these so-called "numb wrists." [1]

[1]  The fact you describe it that way is a tip-off already.

No, but like the rest of you guys here, I jerk off alot.

Oh, you got me. You wily dog! You got me. I said wrist when I should
have said my fingers or hand. Crazy me to think my wrist is somehow
connected to this with 25 years of typing at a keyboard.

And when it happens to you, do you shake out each finger or vibrate
your hand? No, you shake out your wrist. Or at least I do. It doesn't
do me any good to twirl my fingers,w hich I can do with the throttle
rocker. I have to shake out my wrist.

Come on, Don; quit looking for fresh dogshit under the bushes all the
time.

I couldn't resist testing you on this one, Greg.  It seems to me you
spend so much time asking questions about bikes, compared to actually
riding them, you must be close to running out of material.

And that from a guy who was, not long ago, thinking about selling all
his bikes and getting out of riding.

Imagine if you were *serious* about riding!

Hey, you seem like a good-natured guy and I've really got nothing
against you but, dang Greg, you strike me as a little strange.  Are
you sure your name isn't Demetrious, trying to break the record for
stringing people along the longest?  ;)
