We're looking for a different route for this year's spring ride. We
leave from the northern suburbs of Atlanta and usually head north.
Last spring, we rode the Blueridge Parkway from start to finish, then
toured Virgina. We came back through Tennessee and North Carolina. It
was 4 days and about 1500-1600 miles. Last fall was South Carolina and
North Carolina. We always seem to end up in the mountains.
This year we would like to try something different and I suggested
northwest through Tennessee to Kentucky and maybe beyond. We usually
make 400 miles a day and spend 3-4 days. Does anybody have suggestions
for routes and destinations? The destination is always an after
thought, an excuse for the route. We prefer small towns and back roads
with light traffic and great scenery. I seem to remember a great trip
30+ years ago through the lake area of western Kentucky. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

It needs to be less than 1200 or 1600 miles round trip. We could get
there and back but not spend much time in Texas.

That wouldn't be good. It takes three days just to eat BBQ here.

Yeh, but the wind will be in your sails on the way back (
baked beans are MANDATORY with BBQ in Texas ).
