There's a thread over in AMS on this bike already. Supposedly, Tom Cruise
was the 1st on the list to buy one. Figures too. The vanity king of the big
screen spending $72K on a bike. BTW, the bike is a totally geared cam
driven Desmodromic V4 with an advertised 200HP Moto GP replica of 2006 at
990cc's or before they shrunk them down to 800cc's.
The gear cam drive V4 had been done by Honda since about 85 to 2001 when
they went to a more conventional (cheaper & less friction) chain cam drive.
But the old blower whine sound is gone now, given up for the VTEC 2/4 valve
thing and even less RWHP than the old 750's.
Few may remember but Honda also made a 4 stroke 20K RPM quasi V8/V4 oval
piston'd with 8 valves per cylinder 500cc GP bike back in the 80's to try
and compete with the 2 strokes. They failed but it was a valiant effort.
They also made a 750 cc version for the 24 hour Le Mans race.

The NR (Nearly Ready) 500. did you know, originally it was supposed to
be cooled by liquid nitrogen?

Just don't get a hole in your cooling system that blows onto
your leg while you're chortling along at 115mph.
Step off and have your leg break clean in half...

Read today that Cruise did get one after all so that's fact. Neat bike
in many ways. There are many guys out there who view $72k the same way I
view a nickel. I'd surely pay a nickel to own a real competition bike
with some adds to make it street legal.
I can't ride it nearly to its capacity but neither than the target
market like Cruise or Leno.
