"The Vectrix just needs an electrical outlet to get its fuel."
That's the problem with things like this, the energy source
has simply been shifted from one fuel to another.
And while the electric energy will be praised as much
more efficient, thrifty, cleaner, etc. no one will really
know because the true source is simply hidden.
Not to mention the disposal/replacement cost of this
thrifty battery.
It's simply an exchange of "pay me now" for "pay me
later".

I have an electric lawnmower. When I feel snobby, I tell people that it's
powered by clean nuclear energy. When I feel churlish, I brag that I own a
coal-burning lawnmower.
What I need is a goat. Fully automated and fundamentally solar-powered.

Nothing damages a machine more than an ignoramus with a manual, a
can-do attitude and a set of cheap tools
