You can test some of that stuff with a voltmeter.
Look for voltage differences between two +12 or
two ground points. For example, you can test
for a voltage difference between the engine
or frame and the battery negative.
If you see a voltage drop between any two points
with the same polarity that's a real good indicator
of a problem in between them.
