Today I took the 750SS's front and rear suspension off the 800SS
racebike and put the 800SS's race front and rear suspension and front
and rear brakes back on the 800SS. Reinstalled CFM/Woodcraft clip-
ons and transferred CFM rear-sets to the 800SS. Installed a new race
fairing stay, the clutch and brake master cylinders, and the throttle
assembly on the 800SS. Reinstalled the stock steel sidestand on the
750SS and removed the alloy sidestand from the 800SS now that it has
the race swingarm back on it with spools. Got help with the
suspension part of the job from my friend Tom who dropped by for a
while to pass the time on this cold, dreary, wet day.
Tomorrow I'll reinstall the 750SS stock suspension, wheels, brakes,
and D.O.T. tires, stock footpegs, clipons and exhaust, and clip-ons,
getting it ready to sell. My middle son Justin is coming over to help
with the suspension swappage. .
Next week, I plan to install the 800SS race exhaust, instruments, fill
and bleed the brake and clutch systems, install a new chain, reinstall
the fuel tank, a battery, and the race bodywork, and fire it up. If
it runs properly, I'll safety wire it and take it to the track day at
Summit Point on Columbus day.
The high-end stuff that is coming off the 750SS will go on the 1000SS
over the winter, when hopefully it will be the sole remaining Super
Sport bike in the garage.

Hmmmm, and all I did was watch a football game or two.
Now you need to take a page from RGD's book and post a video, with a
step by step narration, old sixties tunes playing in the background and
a glimpse or two of a sexy wife or girlfriend. ;-)

Garage Day 2; Sunday, October 2
Middle son Justin came over and we removed the 1000SS alloy swinger
and Ohlins suspension, then reinstalled the 750SS stock suspension,
rear wheel and brake and D.O.T. tire, removed the front wheel and the
race-tuned 1000SS forks, and reinstalled the stock forks, but not
until after we spent the better part of two hours extracting one of
the steel pinch bolts from the lower triple clamp; its allen head was
butchered, a state I simply do not recall from assembly a couple of
years ago. When we went to resinstall the stock front wheel, we
discovered that the shop that had installed the new (and since then,
unused) front tire had mounted it backwards on the rim; so the
completion of the front end will have to wait until Tuesday, when I
can have the tire dismounted and remounted.
Then we went in and watched the Motegi MotoGP round on DVR.
Garage Day 3; Monday, October 3
Today, after work, I re-installed the 750SS exhaust headers, the stock
mufflers, the stock footpegs and controls, adjusted the chain,
reinstalled the fuel tank, seat, and fairing side panels, the stock
clip-on perches, stock mirrors, and cleaned the track day dead bugs
off the bike.
It's now ready for the front wheel and tire, and will be ready for
sale by this time tomorrow night.
Wednesday night I should be able to turn my efforts to getting the
800SS Moto_ST bike ready for Summit Point.

Get a tire mounting machine. Best investment I ever made. Besides
being able to swap tires on my own bikes, it's an inducement for my
riding buddies to come by and shoot the breeze for a while, and one
of them absolutely insists on buying me lunch every time he needs a
tire changed. On Sunday he came by and we had a nice chat while we
worked, and as a bonus I managed to slice into the ring finger of
my left hand good and proper when my tire bar slipped so I have a
nice manly gouge which I hope ends up leaving me with at least some
residual feeling in the fingertip.
