Mine are the older flat black rubber SAE connectors like on trailers.

They are hot! Too hot too grab and they're almost melting.

Gerbing fixed them once (took a month), but the problem is back. The jacket
and gloves are plugged into the older metal box Heat-Troller which still
works, just the connectors are overheating. I unplugged the gloves and the
connectors cooled down a bit to the point I could grab them. Seems the SAE
connectors are just too low a current rating to run about 200 watts of
clothing (i.e. jacket, pants, gloves, socks). Dunno.

I'm wondering if anyone has soldered them up permanently or changed the
connector style? <So goes their lifetime warranty>

Are the newer-style coaxial connectors any better?

Tia.

I run Gerbing and have the same connectors, and do not have that
problem. I run the jacket and the pants, and - until recently
switching to heated grips - the gloves, too. None of my connectors get
hotter than ambient temperatures. It sounds as if one side of the
connection isn't being made well, thus resistance, thus heat. At
least, that's my off-the-cuff thought.

I've been using Gerbing for 5 years and have never noticed my
connectors getting hot. You have a short circuit somewhere.

$115 a four ounce tube!!!!?

(I smell solder)

I'm suspecting the plug's connectors are crimp-ons and something funky is
going on with the wires.
