Decided to save money by hauling my stuff to the cycle rental place on the
rental motorcycle
http://blog.dtashley.com/?pp5
then taking a taxi to the airport.
Got a few strange looks, including at the cycle rental place.
That was my fun for the day.

They probably wondered how a scooter tramp like you lived on his
motorcycle but still managed to stay *clean*.

Interesting idea. I never thought about living on a motorcycle. I've heard
of living in a car. Or on a boat. But a bike seems like pushing it.
On the other hand, the local truck stops where I live rent showers (not sure
how much). Given the existence of laundromats, rental showers, and various
public restrooms ... seems doable.

There's a difference between a tramp and a hobo.
The etymology of "hobo" comes from the French "homme beau".
Handsome and charming men can always find male or female friends to
live with for a while, and I have met several *clean* hobo bikers who
crashed on their biker friends' couches when they needed to.
Hobos travel light, believing that there is a providence that will
meet their needs.
Tramps, on the other hand are *dirty*, they carry everything they own
with them, and when they own a beat up motorcycle and pile everything
they own onto the
bike, it's obvious what they are.
Tramps are usually sullen and argumentative, they alienate people with
their
attitudes and appearance.
That's why I remarked that the public wondered how a scooter tramp
could be so clean.
My cousin and another hobo type road their motorcycles down to Mexico
and stayed for a year at a time.
When the other hobo returned to California, he was on a completely
different motorcycle and I watched him emptying out his saddle bags.
He was throwing away perfectly good levis and sneakers and t-shirts,
saying that nobody needed that much material stuff.
He was always able to find a woman to live with.
Another hobo I used to drink beer with owned nothing except his
motorcycle, the clothes on his back, and some extra socks and
underwear---and a copy of the latest motorcycle magazine.
He had no trouble finding friends to live with.

Nice place to visit, but, I wouldn't want to live there.
