Get real. Lots of local racers have been to Daytona, but they didn't
try to play
"Big Halsey" on us.

And you personally have raced on the Daytona banking how many times?
When you say "Lots of local racers" you have already thined things
down a lot. What percentage of the population do you think actually
race motorcycles? Not track days but really racing? And I would
guess that less than 1 in 20 of the racers around here ever makes it
down to race at Daytona. So yes, I was being real when I said that
just racing at Daytona give you one some bragging rights.

Never. I was too busy doing other things I wanted to do, while
wondering why I wanted to race at Daytona. So I flew down there once
and checked it out, then got busy with other things I want to do more.

Not many every go truly professional. A lot keep their day jobs and
say they are professionals and do their racing using vacation time.

I saw people I knew at Daytona, and I knew what they did to get there,
so I wasn't really impressed. I also saw people I never heard of
running in the 200. Promoter's option, yannow.

Most people, not just motorcyclists, are a bit impressed by anyone
that can truthfully claim to have raced at Daytona. The fact that it
is not a big deal to you does not lessen the fact that to the general
population it is perceived as having accomplished something that few
ever will. Going to Daytona to hang out and party isn't nearly so
impressive.

Nobody said anything about professionals so you're just going off on a
tangent here. My point was that maybe one in five hundred riders
actually go racing at a track. And maybe one in twenty of those
racers race at Daytona. That makes that Daytona racer one in ten
thousand, many of whom think what that racer did was really cool even
if he finished dead last. That is why he has bragging rights.

Yes, some people get there easy, while others have to work their butts
off. And many more work their butts off trying to get there and still
don't make it.

Maybe one of his ancestors did.
