I've heard from people moving from C1 to C2 that C2 is much less
noisy.
But is C2 as quiet as S1? Thats the question I can't find a good
answer to.
I can "live with" some added weight in exchange for the flip-up
mechanism, but I wouldn't want to add more noise also.

A quick look at www.louis.de seems to indicate no problems?
And loads of shops in Denmark sells Schuberth helmets.

I tried on a Schuberth modualar in XXL, and it seems that their modulars are
made for the chinless. Met a guy with a medium last weekend, said it hit his
chin constantly.
They list an XXXL, but apparently don't actually make them.

It's that Shoei head vs. Arai head thang.
That, and the US-spec helmets seemed to be sized slightly different
from the Euro ones. Quite a few folks bought them and couldn't get
them to fit.
I haven't run into the chin problem with a C2 and I have a microphone
mounted in mine, although it's offset a bit to the side. That's a
problem with many of the flip-front helmets - I tried on another brand
(sorry, cannot remember which) and literally couldn't close it because
my chin was in the way.
You have to laugh at this stuff.

A multiple beer discussion. My C2 is somewhat quieter than the
several C1's that I have had. But the aerodynamics of the bike and
things like earplugs and various sound systems (I have a J&M headset
in one helmet and use Koss Plug walkman-type earbuds in another) can
make more of a difference that switching between a C1 and a C2.
Yes, I have heard that the S1 is VERY quiet.
Then again, many folks tell me that the ventilation in a C1 or C2 is
great, and that hasn't totally been my experience her in Floriduh.
One pays ones money and one takes their chances ;)

If your #1 priority is the noise, and you don't want to wear earplugs,
then I'd avoid a Concept, to be honest with ya.

Except that their site seems to be down this AM ;)
Oh, I'm sure that I will get my parts, but it will simply take a month
and some $$$. The frickin' face shields are available but they are
something like $80US. I had a guy on another list contact me because
he and I both need a set of the latches that hold the shield in place
and there doesn't seem to be a spare set anywhere in the USA.
I love the Concept helmets - don't get me wrong. But I am hoping they
get a new distributor here soon. And with the exchange rates being
what they are, it may be tough in the short run.
