I have my Venture up for sale with an ask price of $7,500.00.

This evening I get a call from a guy claiming to represent some
finance company. I thought he said AMG or something like that. He
tells me they finance clients wanting to purchase used bikes and other
vehicles. He goes on to say he has two clients looking for a 2000
Venture, pre-approved for $9000.00. I am expecting him to suggest he
can arrange the sale for $9k and will pay me my $7.5K. Not so. He
wants me to give him $500.00 up front for the "guaranteed" sale of my
bike. WTF.
Trust me after that, this was a short conversation. Interesting game
though.

Scammers don't care how many trout they kill, while they're fishing
for carp with dynamite.

What surprised me is it took him three or four minutes to get to the
$500.00. I should have strung him along after that, just to tease him
and see where the con would have gone.

Can you switch the odometer to show 99,419.3908 miles?

I don't know if there's some sort of shortage of Ventures in Canada, but it
shouldn't be too hard to find one for $9k. And since when did finance
companies choose the items they will be financing, and the buyer paying for?
Friggin scammers. Seems you can't pee without somebody trying to rip you
off.
Sweet bike. Part of me wants to keep my old RS. I feel like I'm betraying
a girlfriend, while she's standing right there in the driveway. Knowing
it's good for another 100k miles (it's at 70k now) makes selling it tough.
But, I need the dough, and I don't need an 800lb beast that needs to be
moved every trash day.

I like to tell all telemarketers some disgusting story, like "I wish I could
talk to you, but I have to take a crap..." then go in to great detail of
just what I expect to come out.
If I can't turn their stomach, I'll usually just start screaming and acting
like a wack job....wait, "acting?"

Lots of people ask $9k for that vintage of Venture but I doubt many
sell for that price. Seeing as the only call I have had for mine at
$7.5k was from a scammer, it may be overpriced.

To the best of my knowledge, never.

If it's been looked after it will go for longer than that. Those
V-Fours will run forever if taken care of.

Sometimes I tell them I am interested, but ask them to hold for just a
minute, set the phone down and forget about them. When they are
working, the only thing of value to them is time, so I try to waste as
much of it as I can.
