I have the opportunity to get this bike for $2500. It has 10,000, mint
condition, 1986 model. Any ideas if this is a good price? Thanks

My gut reaction is no, unless you know for sure that it's really been
babied and stored properly. 10k miles over 20 years is only 500
miles/year and my guess is that it's probably been neglected somewhat
during at least a few of its off seasons.
Admit it- you're trying to outdistance me in the bike collecting game,
no?

YES YES YES!!! Ok Mark, you saw right through me <g>.
I know the people who've had it and they have taken good care of it.
However I checked the Nada book value and even with add ons, they seem to be
about $1000 over.
But it's really pretty and I like it. And leaning over that big gas tank
might make my butt look smaller....
If I can get through the evening I'll be ok and I'll watch and see if they
get their price or not. Maybe if it sits a while I will offer a lower
price. Thanks for the reply.

I think for that money you could get a 600 supersport four cylinder bike
that's at least 10 years newer. If you're willing to accept one that's
a bit pre-disastered you could easily get a five year old example. If you
haven't already, check out the nearest craigslist sites, if only for
comparing prices.

Thanks for the links. I found I can get something similar and much newer
for the same price.
