I'm looking for hot weather riding gear on a bit of a budget. So I'm
not looking to pay extra for a Honda logo (they should pay me to pay
for that shit).

As much as I hate to support China, this is what I'm looking at right
now:

Joe Rocket Pheonix 4.0 Jacket in white/silver/black:

Joe Rocket Pheonix 2.0 Pant:

While I want decent protection (that fits within my budget), I am
leaning more towards comfort in hot weather. I'm an ATGATT rider, but
I don't want to drown in my own sweat like I do with the Ballistic
line.

So before I rush out and order this stuff, what other products should
I consider for hot weather protection?

I wear the JR Ballistic mesh in the summer. I can't say how good the
protection is, since I have yet to crash. But it isn't too hot in the 100+
Utah summers.

I am considering Icon jeans with kevlar. I rarely wear the leather pants in
the summer.

I have a Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket, and the dubious honor of having
crashed in it. It did fine. I was only going about 20 mph, but I did
slide down the road a little ways and my pants (Dockers) were shredded.

As mentioned by others, mesh doesn't keep you cool while you're stopped.
Stopping for traffic is still pretty miserable.

A tank top, baggy shorts and flip flops should do.
If your state has a helmet law, a tini beanie with DOT scrawled on the back
with a white or silver pen, will suffice.

Also, a cotton, doo rag is in order.

I use the Tourmaster Draft Air - also purchased the liner - it's a quilted
thing zippered into a nylon block. In the hottest days, I start out with
the nylon block zipped into the jacket. Later, I shed the liner and the
primarily mesh jacket works fine. The total package ran me about $135.
It's also pants ready. Take a look.
