(Sorry, BryanUT)

I went for a fairly brief blast on the Monster S4Rs this weekend; just
down to Gainesville and back; about 55-60 miles round trip.   Took the
back roads down, and the highways back.   I couldn't keep the grin off
my face.  Even though it was miserably hot and humid (has been all
summer here in noVa) the ride was a total funfest.  Light, flickable,
torquey, comfortable, healthy sounding (but not loud) bike, tiny
tankbag with a spare faceshield, sunglasses case, and a cell phone in
it, the bike just wants to wheelie everywhere I go.  It's a constant
battle to restrain my baser instincts while riding the darn thing.
Sometimes I just give in.

When you get stopped for "unsafe starting" tell the DA that someone
was approaching rapidly from behind, and you gave the engine more
throttle than usual to avoid getting hit. Then explain the irony of
getting a ticket for being unsafe when you were merely taking a
safety precaution. Worked for me. ;-)

DA?  Is that Dumb Ass or District Attorney?

Since when does the latter get involved with petty civil matters?

???

A traffic violation isn't a civil matter. It's classified as
a criminal case, prosecuted by the State. I always contact the
DA when I get a traffic ticket, and have never had one that wasn't
reduced or dismissed. I use the same articulate presentation of
facts, logic, and reason that I use here. It usually works quite
with sane folks, and DAs are generally sane...  ;-)

The web pages I glanced at mostly all say that you are correct (all
criminal), but this one says different:

http://www.criminal-law-lawyer-source.com/terms/traffic.html

I'm just so confused.
