Anyone know what bike the race fairing upper pictured on this Ducati
1000SS originally came from?

No idea, but it looks nice. Modified 916?

I was going to say Trumpet...but the hind brain gave me a swift kick.
Looks similarp to something off an early 2000's Yamaha or
Suzuki...though I'm leaning to aftermarket. But that's just a wild
guess.

Yep, it is aftermarket.  My Ducati paint guy on the Ducati Monster
list identified it for me:

http://www.ducati-kaemna.de/

Lots of cool, expensive, european motorcycle accessories.  Not exactly
the euroversion of J.C. Whitney!

http://www.ducati-kaemna.de/cms_en/katalog.htm?&view=artikel&artikel=21=
05

Let's see $245 Euros is currently exchanged for roughly $351, plus two
relocation hkits for the four coils on the dual-spark 1000SS, at 45
Euros each, that's another $125; plus shipping from Europe.  Ouch.
Plus painting when it arrives.  Argh.   This is gonna have to wait for
awhile.
