I've ridden that road hundreds of times and I've never had more fun than I did
yesterday. That was the first time I've ever tried it on a dual sport. Somebody
told me I should put street wheels and tires on it and make it a motard. I'm
already dragging the pegs on a dirt bike, what more could I do with different
tires and wheels?

Increase your rubber contact patch and thus your level of safety.
Anyway, the 250s do appear to be good at filtering thru traffic.
