There was a note with my registration about the new insurance law in CT.
If you let your insurance lapse, you get hit with a 200 buck fine. If
you protest it and lose the protest your registration is cancelled and
you are no longer allowed to register _any_ vehicle in CT.
However, if you have a "seasonal vehicle" you can in the off-season
cancel your liability and just keep comprehensive and be legal.
I thought the whole purpose of mandatory insurance was to make sure that
everybody had liability, not that everybody would get their bike fixed
if a tree falls on it, but apparently not.
One wonders how much the various Hartford-based insurance companies
donate to the legislature every year.

That's outrageous. We're required to have insurance, and there are
severe penalties if you don't, and we now have a 'continuous insurance'
requirement, but if you declare your vehicle as 'off the road'[1], then
you don't need it - as long as it's not used on the road, of course.
Surely there's some sort of similar provision in CT?

Not quite the same thing as we've got.

[1] My sig is out of date right now. There are10 bikes at the Chateau,
and four are officially 'off the road'.
