I'm sure that it's less than the most opportune moment but what are they
supposed to do? Once you've started the process of starting up a business
you either keep on schedule or go broke.

It was my understanding, from a story some years ago, that
when the trademark was bought, it was a requirement that
a motorcycle be produced within so many years.

And if not, the trademark office is going to take it away from you and
sell it to someone else? Not very likely.
