I just find this incredible :

http://www.wral.com/news/10484971/detail.html

She killed a guy ( cage on pedestrian ), and left the scene ( hit and
run ). Caught 2 days later, it turns out she was on probation for
DUI, and had no license.

Because she left the scene and wasn't caught for 2 days, they couldn't
prove she was drunk at the time. Of course, this next line puts the
lie to that :

Her lawyer had the balls to ask for probation, partially based on "...
in an alcoholic support group since the accident".

So :

Hit and run in a fatal accident
No license ( suspended for DUI )
On probation for DUI
Likely drunk again ( not provable in court )

What's she get ???

6 - 8 months ( minus 'good behavior time' etc )

She could be out in time for the Superbowl next year.

In the UK, leaving the scene of an accident is a serious crime, dunno
if it is across the pond or not,.

It is here too. I'm guessing the judge was fibbing when he said his hands were
tied. Don't know about this case but in Alaska we have a failure to render
assistance charge, which is also a felony.

Well, that's that then.
