I was talking about you saying Don probably hates Yamaha, not the valve
adjustment frequency. I have no idea and even less interest in that.
But....
The warranty covers valve adjustments?
Oh, and Don has a Venture, not a Road Star.
Also a Road King which needs no valve adjustments.

Geez Dude, lighten up. I am the last person you will find around here
who partakes in bike bashing. Yes I ride a Harley and even when the
laws allow I almost always wear my helmet. I also own and ride a
Venture, that is a Yamaha.
I thought my response to your inquiry was fair and balanced.
I wonder why I still find multiple references to valve clearance
checks every 4000 miles. Here is another one from Rider Magazine:
http://www.ridermagazine.com/output.cfm?id 68427
"Maintenance is straightforward. Oil changes and valve clearance
checks every 4,000 miles; a new filter every 8,000; and a new
oil-coated paper element in the air cleaner every 24,000 miles."
I have to pop down to my local Yamaha dealer later today. I'll stop
and ask the service manager.
Whatever others may think or say about the 950 you are obviously very
pleased with it and that is really all that matters. Ride hard and
ride safe and maybe take that chip off your shoulder.
