Somebody in my area has an 86 Concours(60K) for sale. The seller says
it has a knock at idle speed. Does this sound like a bad engine
bearing or something else?

                        thanks,

Could be, but it could also be a slack cam chain.  Sticky cam chain
tensioners are a common source of noise complaints on the Concours.
It could be a number of other things too, like an alternator/starter
chain or tensioner, maybe even a bad starter clutch, etc.

You might want to ask your questions about this bike over on the
Concours Owners' Group forum, lots of knowledgeable and helpful folks
there:

Unless it's really cheap, and/or you have a line on a replacement engine,
I'd stay away.  My '98 started getting very noisy immediately after I
bought it.  The cams and rockers were ruined, due to an oil passage
(actually a banjo bolt) getting plugged by oil filter material.
I bought a low mileage engine from a 2000 Concours for $333 from a local
seller on ebay.  Shipping engines is *expensive*.
