Well the Leatherique rejuvenator oil and cleaner arrived today.  I
popped the front seat bottoms out of the car and brought them inside
to see how this stuff works.

My first impression is "Way Cool".

It will take a day or two to finish these parts. The oil has to be
worked into the leather and left to soak overnight. If the leather is
old and dry it might take a few applications for the oil to be
absorbed by the leather. As the oil soaks in the leather, it is
supposed to bring the dirt and crap to the surface. The cleaner takes
it from there.

After one application, these parts smell like brand new leather. That
is a nice perk. I hope it lasts. The seats feel more supple already. I
am looking forward to the finished product.

My new speakers for the XJ also arrived today. Well the new speakers
for the front. I bought a pair of Alpine SPS400s for the back last
weekend. They are ok but not great. For the front I ordered a pair of
Polk Audio DB401s.  I have used these before and for a 4" speaker they
have a decent punch. It's not easy to get decent sound out of a 4"
speaker. I am not interested in modifying the door panels to
accommodate something bigger. I might add a woofer someday.

More weekend work to look after the speaker install.

If you haven't figured it out, I have set aside any idea of picking up
an old bike and restoring it, in favour of working on the project I
already have, the XJ.

I got an estimate on having the XJ repainted and it ain't cheap. As
time allows I am going to do a very thorough rust protection
treatment. The guys in the Jag forum are outstanding for identifying
all the typical problem spots and the easiest way to get at them. I am
lucky all of the inside panels I have seen to date look like they are
right from the factory. I mean they are not even dusty. At the end of
the summer, if I am done and if I have any money left I will have it
painted.  There is no point spending a large chunk of money on paint
unless a decent rust protection procedure has been done.

Anyway, seeing as there is nothing on topic being discussed in Reeky I
thought I'd throw in something that doesn't include Neil obsessing
over Krusty, Henry being Henry, Neil obsessing over Henry, or any of
my usual crap.
