OK, I have chased the demons inside me that have been encouraging me
to take on a new bike project, deciding instead to focus on the many
projects currently on my plate.

With the weather improving I just brought the XJ6 out of storage and
for the next little while I will exorcise those demons by working on
the Jag.

First up will be reconditioning the upholstery. Although it is in good
condition it needs a little work. Here are a few pictures of the XJ
http://actualriders.ca/xj6.htm

Those pictures were taken a year and a bit ago and the seats look to
be in better condition in the pictures than they actually are. The
leather has dried and shows minor spider cracking.

Some of the Reeky banter aside, the net is an amazing resource for
finding the best of the best products. I found a product called
Leatherique, with a Canadian dealer.

There is a Jag forum which is an outstanding resource for all things
Jaguar, and this is the product they unanimously recommend.

I gave Leatherique (Robert) a call this evening and ordered product
for the first phase of the restoration Rejuvenator Oil and Pristine
Clean.. It might be all I need but if not this will be the first step.

I chatted with Robert for the better part of an hour talking about
Jags and leather. He owns over 40 Jag parts cars. He even has the left
hand fuel return valve I was looking for, twenty bucks. A heck of a
bargain.

With the glowing praise I have read about these products I am
confident they will do the trick for the Jag and I will have plenty to
do the bikes too. Hell I can even do one of my couches. ;-)

So phase one of the Jag will be the upholstery. Phase two will be
eliminating the minor bits of rust and phase three will be body work
and new paint.

This will keep me broke for a while. <g>

If you have a leather restoration project on your hands give some
thought to Leatherique. I'll follow up with a report and pictures of
how my upholstery project works out.
