Loud pipes can sound really annoying and obnoxious, but I love the
sound of a motorcycle when it's set up right.

This is interesting.

The police in Oakland, CA install LOUD pipes on their Harleys as they claim
"They are safer on them being heard."  They are above the states legal dB
level and the question was whether the CA Highway Patrol would cite them for
being illegal per the CA Vehicle Code.

The city council approved their installation at a cost of $15,000 for the
louder pipes.

Well, no one has ever said that the police were immune
from doing stupid things.

The anechoic chamber is cool. I worked at a computer company in '81ish
when we needed to build an anechoic chamber to measure RFI emissions.
As government regulations had just begun to require them.

That's a pretty cool microphone measurement set up they built there. I
seem to remember someone asking about what Harley ever did as far as
innovation. That might be an example. Maybe not, maybe Honda told them
how to do it.
