I'd glue something fun to the top. Make sure it's a soft or easily
breakable something, though - don't want it causing any harm in the
event the helmet gets "used" again.

This is a sort of hybrid between the spiked WW1 pickelhaube and the
WW2
stahlhaube that the Wehrmacht troops wore.

I know a disabled WW2 veteran who lost his leg to German mortar fire
in
Normandy in 1944. He doesn't see anything wrong with wearing a replica
stahlhaube, though.

Regular Bicycle Foam Hats, er helmets, really only function for bump and
scrape protection. Whole population studies have shown no statistically
significant reduction in serious head injuries and death with bicycle
foam hat use.
