You can subscribe to AOL and use your own ISP to access it, broadband,
dialup, whatever. That way, you're just paying for the AOL service and not
the internet access.

Yup.
And it will continue to get worse and worse because of the guys with
straight-pipes who still take great pleasure in rattling the rafters
of homes 1/2 mile away from their bikes, and doing so at 2:00 AM when
the bars close.
You can piss off just so many influential citizens just so many times
before the world falls on your head.
