Just now I was riding along a main street in one of
Vancouver's suburbs and I see what looks like a shiny
black custom bobber parked in a shopping mall.
Naturally I pull in to have a better look at the thing
and discover that it's a Ducati Sport 1000 cafe racer.
So I'm standing around looking at it when the owner
shows up -- and -- marvelous to relate -- he turns out
to be the former owner of my Triumph Thruxton!
What are the odds of a coincidence like that
in a sprawled-out metropolis of 2 million people?
Furthermore he's still got a few factory new take-offs
such as the exhaust system and mirrors which we've
arranged for me to buy at a bargain price.
ps. His accident was a revealed hazard type, at night.
Some cager was waiting to turn left against oncoming
traffic, including him. He's behind another car and
their light is green. The car makes it through, but
the cager doesn't see the bike behind it; tries to make
the turn, suddenly sees him, slams on the brakes...
and BANG. A year and a half later, he's still going
to physio, but recovering. Mostly soft tissue and
mid-body organ damage. Said it was lucky he'd been
wearing a full-face helmet because he went through
the car's window jaw-first.

Sometimes shit just works out. Consider it a good omen.

Ok it's a done deal - I got the full factory stock exhaust
system and a set of new mirrors, all for $200. There's also
a small package with what looks like carb parts.
Pairs of little threaded brass thingies with holes.

Jets for use with the stock exhaust system.

I absolutely love it when this sort of thing happens. Used to happen
to my parents quite a lot, too: bumping into people in the most
unlikely places. Never happened to me....

Well, two motorcycle-mad mental defectives with a taste for outdated
machinery... quite high, I'd say ;-)

Brilliant. I trust you're going to let him have a ride on the
completed project?
