"BALTIMORE -- A Kansas church has been ordered to pay $3,150 for costs
and fees associated with a summons and complaint filed by the father
of a Marine whose funeral was picketed by the extremist group.

Albert Snyder, of York, Pa., is suing the Rev. Fred Phelps and
Westboro Baptist Church after church members demonstrated at the
funeral of Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, of Westminster, and posted
pictures of the protest on their Web site."

Maybe this is the start of how to shut them down - through their
pocketbooks.

They haven't been held liable for damages. They've been held
liable for some costs and fees associated with the lawsuit. The
suit for damages has not yet been tried as nearly as I can make out.

True that but I just wanted to sound concerned and authoritative so I
embellished the story to make it sound more to my liking. I do it all the
time. In reality the WBC refused a waiver of summons, this is of course a
legal "move" on their part. All to be played out in the next year.
