Well , it's not so much a chronological thing as it is a state of mind ...
having been thru three pretty bad wrecks (none my fault , resulted in
totalling two bikes ...and nearly totalling me) in the last four years has
taken it's toll . I feel better with more bike under me , plus those
creature comforts are almost a necessity now . I absolutely cannot ride long
distances without a backrest .

Havin' tunes helps ! Kinda hard to fall asleep when yer rockin' to Led Zep
or The Doors . Plus , the fatigue factor on a big tourer is much less -
those creature comforts help with that too .
