Some time ago, I mentioned that my helmet was getting buffeted by wind
coming over the windscreen. Questions:
a)It was recommended that I adjust the angle. In general, do I want the
thing more upright or more swept back to elminated this problem?
b)I might go to a slightly taller windscreen. However, I comfortably look
OVER my current windscreen, and the tallest one in the same line is only 2
inches taller. I don't want something where the upper border of the
plexiglass is in the way ... I should either be looking OVER it or THROUGH
it, but probably nothing in between. Any thoughts there?
Thanks.

Yes. Experiment. Every bike and windshield combination is different.

Over it. Most definitely. Looking through the windscreen works
OK until you find yourself riding in the rain at night.

Even though I look over the windscreen, I still miss stuff occasionally.
One of the worst experiences I had was running over a dead road-killed
woodchuck (I think it was a woodchuck) at night (fogged goggles). I noted
the dead animal when I rode to the location I was going (it was a two-laner,
and I noted it on the other side of the road), but when coming back I had
forgotten about it and squished it. The front forks compressed and it was
just an awful "squish" feeling.
I think the road-kill already had some miles on it, because it was really
squishy and gross.

You might find the offensive buffeting is coming under the windshield.
I screwed around with a whole bunch of windshields, including a Vetter
fairing on my Antique Virago with little reduction in the buffeting
before I discovered it was coming from under the windshield.
Play around with the windshield but if you can't solve the buffeting
you might try installing some fork deflectors. They might help.

Look over it. If you have ever ridden into a low sun with a dirty
windshield or ridden in a heavy rainstorm you will understand why.

That's certainly the case on my V-Strom; I got a huge improvement by
increasing the gap, and hence the airflow, underneath the screen. I find
I get little difference from varying height or angle settings. But
V-Stroms are notorious for that. Mirrors can also affect airflow.
