Anyone know of any companies that offer motorcycle insurance in
Massachusetts? It seems like none of the major companies serve MA.
Thanks,
Doug

Some insurers will only insure motorcycles if you add them to an
existing car policy. I think the idea is that if you have a car AND
a bike that "of course" your going to choose the car most of the time.
Of course, what they don't know won't hurt them.

I have never seen or heard of this from any MA insurer I have ever dealt
with. Several of us here have had nothing but motorcycles on a policy
with NO problems whatsoever. Considering that denying a policy for this
reason would be a violation of MA law, I doublt you will find one either.
To get insurance, go down to your friendly neighborhood independent
agent and see which ones they offer. It is only this year that the
rates are finally no longer state-controlled, so shop around a bit.
Personally, I have Plymouth Rock and would not change them out for
anyone else. They are fairly priced, responsive, and have NEVER given
me one iota of grief on a claim. Get in an accident? They send out
the crash van for an adjuster to cut you a check for the vehicle repair
on the spot.

Thank's for the info. I had a car and motorcycle policy through
Safety Insurance, but my car premium jumped $30 for no reason at all.
Nothing changed on my driving record, no accidents or citations. I
switched the car to Progressive for a $150 savings, but Progressive
doesn't insure motorcycles in MA (at least not yet). So I want to
shop around for motorcycle insurance, as my insurance is up for
renewal in the end of August.
