They tried that in Santa Cruz several years ago. So bikers came in early
on weekends and parked one bike in every spot, exactly as the new
ordinance required. If someone wanted to leave, he'd flag down another
biker to take the spot. There were no legal spaces for cars in any of
the touristy areas. There was nothing illegal about what the bikers were
doing ... so the city changed the ordinance back to what it was before.

In San Francisco they say they try to allocate enough motorcycle parking
spaces, and you can usually find one. Otherwise I park in spaces too
narrow for cars, such as between driveways.

One time I saw a car parked across a bunch of spaces clearly marked
"Motorcycle Parking Only" Someone had parked his bike close on one end
of the car, so I parked mine close on the other end. When I got back,
the car had a ticket on the windshield. }: )

Most times I'd agree, but I will share a space if another isn't
available. With parallel parking, you can fit 4 motorcycles in one
space, so you should be able to park safely if there's only one other
bike.

One thing - with perpendicular and diagonal spaces I see entirely too
many cars pulling in and overlapping the lines in my space. That may
make it easier for them, but it's really rude after I leave and no car
can fit in the space.

As far as the metered parking fee goes, I imagine it would be cool to put
half the fee on the first bike's seat. Hey, if he paid the fee, it ain't
cool to welch.

Same here.
