I wrote to him a few days ago, using his 'contact us' form, and as
expected, got no reply. He's currently up to 2,506 posts for September
-- his biggest month ever by far -- so don't look for him to quit
anytime soon.
Perhaps he retired from his day job. :-(

it very well might be true. just because an engine is smaller doesnt
mean its cleaner.
honda had to stop selling a bunch of their lineup (at least in
california) because the engines no longer met standards. what engines?
reflex
big ruckus
helix
elite 80...
its quite possible a 2008 honda helix puts out more pollutants than a
2008 honda civic.
and no, just slapping a catalytic converter on it doesnt do the trick.
the kawasaki EX/ninja 500 was another that didnt make the cut.
what they all have in common is old-school engine technology. the elite
80, helix, and EX500 have (had) engines basically unchanged in 25+
years. the reflex/ruckus engines are newer, but still not "clean".

in EU, yes. My 2009 TMax is the first ive owned with a catalyst. and the
second one ive owned with EFI. love it! no choke, no stumbling... just
get on and go.

Note that the subject is not a comparison of modern vs modern, but
overall...
How many 2-cycle motors are still out on the streets?
In contrast, my scooter apparently has just about as much pollution
control gear as my jeep -- including a small catalytic converter with
air injection, and probably a scavenging fuel vapor canister...

In the Majesty 400cc, is that (canister) linked from the gas tank to
the TPS the (scavenging fuel vapor canister), I thought it was a fuel
cleaner, that assisted the fuel injection system, even though they are
separate systems.
Mine (20005) hasn't had the 2 factory recalls done.......I'll wait
till I really need new seals and connectors.....there is no deadline date
anyway, and they just might come up with the (valve tensioner) and the
(final drive gear) recall at a later date.

They were recalled on other Yamahas of similar makes Majesty,
Morphus......they all shared the same basic CVT and the 250/400cc and the
same production engines had a possible problem on the main Jap site...
I forget the URL just now, but if I get a problem there, I'll be
there

real quick, pointing at things.....
