Washed the bike yesterday. Noticed some spots of corrosion on the
chrome-plated welds on the peg brackets and a few other places. A little
cracked chrome here and there.
What is my best strategy for dealing with corrosion on chrome-plated parts?
I could remove them, sandblast them, and paint them (no harm in doing that),
but I'm wondering what riders most do.
I'm not worried about aesthetics. The parts involved have so much material
that it would be a _while_ before there are any structural concerns. Just
that I normally don't let things rust.
Do they make chrome-colored Rustoleum paint? : )
Thanks for all pointers,
The Lizard

Oh, Jesus.........now I'm going to have to inspect my "new" bike for
rust.......NOT (I've already seen some).

Clean (with 0000 steel wool lightly) and then lube if it is adjacent to
something that requires lube OR clean and polish if it is NOT near something
oily. Repeat (as needed) annually.
Blowing the water OUT of the cracks after wash/rain helps too. That is best
accomplished by riding 100 miles or so.

Chrome polish, wax, repeat ad nauseam.
