After a great deal of futzing around I finally got my CB750
chopper home.
Unloading it from the trailer was a real operation; I used two manual
forklifts with 7' beams between them, straddling the trailer. Then with
load straps and ratchet tensioners I hoisted the bike, towed the trailer
out from under it and then lowered it to the pavement.
BTW this was all done at night to minimize the number of prying
eyes (I live on a semi-main suburban road). Then I took it for
a quick shakedown cruise up the lane... does it ever steer like a pig.
Also I just got a cable installed to the front brake and it works
(sort of)... well, there's a hint of braking action.
I posted some pix of this thing on alt.binaries.pictures.motorcycles.
ps. the bike shop also got my derelict CX500 running ... in a manner
of speaking. The shocks won't hold air so the suspension's a bit
rough... and there's a deep, wide spot in the power band just
above idle... more on this later but I gotta crash, I'm exhausted.
SQ - So screw it. Let's ride.
