im no mechanic, lets just get that outta the way. i just bought a 2001 bandit
600 and it was running fine. the only thing i noticed was that it would
backfire when rolling off the the throttle at high rpm's. when i started it
up today it cut off at idle with the choke on. i tryed starting it back up
and it wouldn't run unless i was giving it gas and had the choke on and while
it was running it sounded ruff and was sputtering and backfiring. what do i
need to do to get it running again? quick!!!! its my only transportation at
the moment

Can you get to an auto parts store, Walmart, Pep Boys, NAPA?
Your carburetors are plugged up with gum and varnish.
If you want to do a quick job of cleaning them out, open up the float
bowl drain screws and drain each carb into an old rag and then tighten
the screws.
Watch for rust and water coming out the drain hole, that indicates
there is crud in the gas tank.

Item 35 is the drain screw. Each carb has one. Then disconnect the
fuel hose (item 37) from the petcock.
Spray some GumOut or STP or Berryman B12 carburetor cleaner down the
hose until the hose is full and leave the bike sit for half an hour.
Reconnect the fuel hose and turn the petcock knob to PRI position.
The engine will start on the carb cleaner and as it is used up,
gasoline will replace it.
When you go to start the engine, don't open the throttle at all, just
use the choke.
The alcohol in the carb cleaner will clean all the gum and varnish out
of the carbs very quickly.
Turn the petcock knob back to the ON position, which is probably
straight down.
If your carbs plug up right away, you have rust and water in your gas
tank and will need to remove the gas tank and flush it out with fresh
gas.

I have the answer to your problem, but I refuse to help anyone who won't
use the shift key.
