As some around here may know I have a friend in Maine who owns a 1985
Virago 1000. last year her bike stopped running. The carbs were giving
her troubles. They didn't have the resources or skills to fix them so
I had her send them out here and I had them rebuilt.
They are finally getting around to reinstalling them and apparently
have a part left over. Story of my life. lol
Here is a picture of the part and an exploded diagram of the air
filter assembly from the Yamaha site. I couldn't find one for the
carbs.

It looks to me like it is part of the fuel delivery system
Any ideas?

Looks like find #29 on the air cleaner fiche drawing, which
isn't a lot of help.

Always helps to take lots of photos[1] during disassembly... but
that's probably no help now either.
[1] using your camera's macro setting, so the photos have a chance
of being in focus rather than just large blurs.

That's what I thought too. It was that metal connector at the end that
didn't seem to fit.

I agree with you on that one. I might add making sure you have the
correct exposure too. Nothing is worse than trying sort it out relying
on an underexposed picture.

Just at first glance, it looks a lot like Part #29 of the first link you
included above.

Wrong.

It's a float bowl air vent pipe and filter. My Yamaha I-4 has two of
them that are exactly alike, but the Virago has two different vent
pipes.
