...The Nevada legislature on Thursday sent a bill to Governor Jim Gibbons (R)
that would, if signed, prohibit homeowners' associations from discriminating
against motorcyclists and issuing speeding tickets to motorists. State
Representative Francis Allen (R-Clark County) introduced the bill to rein in the
powers of associations in dozens of areas which was adopted by a 42-0 vote in
the Assembly and a 19-2 Senate vote....

That sounds like a measure that recognizes the personal liberties of more
active citizens over certain more sedentery peoples' perceived "right" to
peace and quiet.

The homeowners association in the neighborhood where I live is a bit behind
the times.

When all the senior citizens moved in, this was a very quiet rural
neighborhood and they could live like they lived in the 1950's. But now the
area is attracting redevelopment and
the nearby highway resonates with the howl of sportbikes and the thunder of
big twins at night.

The entry to our gated community is on the opposite side, and I have to ride
up over a small hill to go out. I can't go up the hill without making *some*
noise.

The home owner's association has threatened to ban all motorcycles from the
community if the spry senior citizens with loud pipes don't put their stock
pipes back on.

We may still have to "lawyer up" to protect our liberties against the walking
zombies who should be warehoused in convalescent hospitals while they wait to
die.

I don't have a problem with the perceived right to peace and quiet. I
have a problem with people discriminating against motorcycles no matter
how quiet they are.

This calls for a Volvo station wagon with straight pipes.

It's easy to say a war is so important your neighbor should go fight it for you.

It really goes beyond that.  There is a certain segment of the
population that wants to control how you live.  The thing is, that
segment can be further divided into the different hows.  It's still a
bunch of TOBAL folks though.

They should all be euthanized.

What about the folks with the loud pipes on their cars and motorcycles
... don't they also want to control how I live? They want to disturb my
peace and quiet any time they feel like it and, ironically enough, they
want me to be quiet about it.

Bad idea. We tried that; it led to the ruin of our country.
