My neighbor sold his '05 Harley Sportster 1200 last week and bought an
'06 Honda ST1300. What a sweet bike... electrically adjustable
windshield, a zillion indicators - temp, clock, fuel, tach, etc.
Everything (except maybe handlebar height) seems to be well thought
out. It's also one sharp looking bike up close and personal. I assume
the speedo goes up to 160 for a reason :)-

It's the kind of bike thta could make me think twice about which way I
want to go when the time to replace my VTX comes around.

If you don't like him, you could buy an FJR and deftly throw him into
full-on buyer's remorse.

Well, it could be the little issue of the valve seats coming loose in the head
of the FJR and wandering around the combustion chamber, or the buzz in the
handlebars from that ancient inline 4 engine, or the engine heat baking the
driver's legs or the grenading transmission.

Or something else.

Different strokes, I guess. Coincidentally, as I was riding next to a
spiffy new HD, I was just this morning thinking about how my bike
tastes seem to be minimalist by comparison to so many. Electronically
adjustable windshield? Tell me you're kidding. I don't even *want* a
windshield. The less shit, the better as far as I'm concerned.

For long-distance touring, I'm sure all of those gizomos are fun,
though.

On this bike, to get rid of the shield, you lower it so it does
nothing to stop the wind. Want to stop the wind? Raise it all the way
and you are looking through it (at 5' 7" or so).

I was looking at mine today as I was the first vehicle in the lot
today. It was looking pretty junked up from a distance of about 25' -
like this big black bike with a ton of add-ons and black crap all over
the handlebars (glove bag, cup holder, some other non-descript black
storage bag that doesn't have anything in it).

The St1300 doesn't look junked up, though, because everything was
designed into the bike, not added on like my bike.

Yeah and that's what the bike was designed for.
