In the few states that ban "active" earphones/earbuds/helmet-speakers/
headsets, I'd say it depends on the wording in the individual law. For
some, I am sure it would be technically illegal.  But it would take an
exceptionally obtuse cop to write you up for it if the device was
simply and only a noise reduction system.

However, aren't most noise-canceling devices also earphones?  Meaning
you can use them to listen to music too?

Damn...the XM307 is a what I use for a sidearm (concealed carry)
Hiding the ammo otoh is problematic on a good day. Good days only
happen in the winter.
