A couple years ago I wanted a medium size bike to compliment my bagger. I
visited my local furrin bike shop and looked at a Triumph, but ended up
buying a used sportster. Some months later that proved lucky 'cuz the shop
now only sold Hondas ... which I considered. Well, last week I stopped by
to buy a helmet and they were gone! That means only a shakey H-D dealer for
100 miles or so. Times are not good!

Surdyke's in (Fenner ?) Missouri . Internet/mail order and you need to have
the part number . Unless they've stopped the discount , prices are list
minus 20% . Chicago Harley is the same deal .

Word I heard is that the MoCo is going to crack down on discounters.
They have a rule about advertizing low prices.
They can sell for less but they can't advertize the price.
They are tryig to say that 20% off msrp constitutes breaking that
rule.

Yeah but Honda still sells millions(?) of 50cc scooters, everywhere
but here, so Harley should be copying Honda's business model or suffer
the consequences of keeping their US dealerships open.

Didn't HD make a cute little scooter back in the 60s?
How'd that work out for 'em?
