I just wanted to make a report of the new to me motorcycle tire repair kit,
"The Stop-n-Go".
Last month we have the VROC WW3 rally in eastern Kentucky. When the rain
finally cleared we hit the roads and one dood picked up a large wood screw
in his Nomad tire. Well we had heard about the Stop-n-Go kit, but no one
had used one yet, so 20 of us surround the bike and watch one of the guys
make the repair with the mushroom shaped plug. It's kind interesting as you
first push a straw like tube thru the puncture, then ya lube up a mushroom
plug and insert it into the tube. Next you have an allen wrench with the
kit and you screw the plug down the tube and into the tire. Once it's all
the way screwed in, you remove the allen wrench and the tube, then pull on
the shaft of the mushroom and seat the plug against the hole inside the
tire. Then ya just pull on it a little more and cut the excess off.
We were lucky to have several weed eaters (Goldwings) riding with us, so we
were able to use the cigarette lighter on it to pump up the tire. We got it
to 40 pounds and he went riding to check it out. Everything was fine and he
ended riding it home, I think he was from Utah, so that was a pretty good
test of the patch.
Anyway, I have seen this product used and approve of it. Any repair not
requiring removing the tire while on the road is a worthy product in my
mind.
