I'm looking for a used Goldwing, preferrably a 2000 to 2003 (what I can
afford for around $11 to $12k.  Is there a better year to focus on (or
stay away from)?  I know the style changes a little, but I'd like to
know if anyone has a personal opinion on one year over another.  Were
there any huge design changes in any year?  I think 2001 was the first
year for the 1800.  Any reason to stay away from the first year of
production on the new engine?
Thanks!

By the way, I currently have a Kawasaki Voyager, 1995 and although it's
a great bike, I think the Goldwing would be a nice step up in cruising
comfort.

There was a recall on some years for frame cracks.  You want to make
sure if you buy one that it has had the inspection and/or repair if it
is in that set of years.

The GoldWing will be a nice step up for you, more power, great handling
and comfort.

Great bike, I love mine...there are a few things about all of them, but
the recalls are out there.  There's a possible overheat problem,
saddlebag sticking, and the frame weld recall, but they can all be
taken care of by the dealer!

I haven't heard anyone with the '01's talking about problems that they
have so find one you like and go for it!!!!

Keep the Voyager. The GW is grossly overrated.

In what way?  Please be specific, citing examples of the OP's riding
history, habits and style that make any such observations germane to
the discussion at hand.
