I think it's faintly ridiculous to allow someone on a learners permit to
ride a 600cc 100+ bhp bike with NO training whatsover and all the time this
is allowed, we're going to hear of young guys topping themselves by
accident.

They truly have NO idea what these bikes are capable of and they've even
less idea about how to make them go around corners or stop without falling
off.

So is it the guy to blame, or the system? I'm definitely one who says we're
responsible for our own actions, but until these guys are forced into taking
training, they're not aware of the dangers. In fact, the system seems to
downplay the dangers completely.

The money we pay into insurance will give him a million dollar repair
job / prosthetic.

The money we pay into insurance will give him a new gixxer.

Uh, no, *his* insurance will cover his hospitalization. If he didn't have
coverage he's pretty much screwed. In other words, he's just like the rest
of us.

You seem to think that insurance is some sort of communist plot to
redistribute the wealth. In fact, insurance companies are very definitely
for-profit businesses, and they do quite well, thank you.

Or is it that you think that dumb people who have accidents shouldn't be
allowed to buy insurance?

I rather think it depends on the type of activity they're involved in at the
time.
Your normal road insurance won't cover you on a race track and I'm sure it
won't cover you for stunt riding either. Hi insco will for SURE be checking
the small print anyway.
